LUCKY NUMBER 13
I really love the number 13. Its maybe the only NUMBER I find reassuring. Numbers bother me because you can barely use words to describe them and they don't really seem like 'things' to me. It seems like an inadequate language to me, the whole math thing, but there is an exact truth in it which I am learning to appreciate (I am forcing myself to say now) because I do benefit from spending time with you, Mr. Metronome and you are a bit mathy aren't you. You are not quite words or music but you have a heart. beat. So maybe I will make you Math to me and Love you.
Last night I got a drink with Jeryn at Sally Obriens (with a $13 tab) was thinking of my haircut upload and wanting to tip 50 cents almost just to make it MATCH (I decided not to be an asshole for the sake of a fringe number obsession/compulsion/neurosis I haven't yet fully developed) went to open mic at Bloc 11 and signed in the #13 spot (which has happened a lot, but I remain inconclusive on the significance of the number voodoo) and I felt REASSURED! BY A NUMBER! (but probably more so by an amazing friend and a welcoming group of people and a good tiiime- but THE NUMBER WAS THERE TOO OK!

THINGS TO CONSIDER;
Is a haircut more like math or art? That's tricky isn't it? Or stupid. I think, Math, what I'm saying is, your presence in the universe, your organizing principles are felt and understood by us humans more so without numbers than with them...but I do wonder what it could possibly mean when certain ones keep showing up (in the past several years I went from 7 winfield st, to 7 price rd, to 7 chester st. which is kind of weird)
and umm, yeah, so if Man is 5...
A new haircut has emerged from the archives with the numeral worth of 13.5...Lets listen in!
(Maybe there is a program I could use to up the audio on this but that has yet to be determined)

GIRLS: lena dunham thoughts and youtubes
DUNHAM: It's sort of like the naivety of youth. It's interesting how we often can't see the ways in which we are being strong—like, you can't be aware of what you're doing that's tough and brave at the time that you're doing it because if you knew that it was brave, then you'd be scared.

haircut #14; the non-cut
headless in allston |
This cut may leave you wistful for the sound of snipping shears but don't get hung up! Let it play and walk away, as the ambient sounds of a Somerville soiree fill your home (or small cell). Return, perhaps, in time to see several people exit the screen with a coconut and a hammer.***
***SPOILER ALERT!!
Although it may have taken 30 minutes to record this haircut not yet beginning, as far as cuts go it was one of the best I've ever experienced. LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT for haircuts,
all thanks to Christiana Celli, artist supreme.

haircut videos!; the prologue
Before I started using my computer to webcam video-tape people cutting my hair (for the most part without their knowledge) I had a lot of big ideas...
and a lot more hair... and jon's boots...
Some more haircuts exist out there on other video formats. I kinda like having the one viewpoint but I think these are interesting too. The problem is a lot of the ones that exist like this are in the hands of others. If you are one of the others reading this, send me that vid yo!

HAIRCUT!
Before the end and before the beginning in the Watertown apartment that goes on living there was haircut #9. fEATuring Robert "Repo Rob" Tortora and my favorite Tony the Tiger hat which was lost in the tragic movie screening debacle of 2013, as witnessed but not recovered by Tyrone Jones:

the HAIRCUT VIDEOS!?
Speaking of Dad ques... a while ago I had really long hair and needed to cut it and when I decided to stat cutting it I wanted to do something creative and productive in the process... like asking my friends/dad/strangers in Texas to give me a haircut and secretly video-taping them on my computer.
I think this idea stemmed from a few points
1. I never had long hair my whole life until I stopped going to the "hair dressers"- the people who tell you how much hair needs to be cut to keep the hair "healthy" (hair is dead) and how they will cut it special so that it will grow long (hair is dead and it grows even after you die).
2. I wanted to see how people would cut my hair when I asked them to do whatever they felt like and gave them no direction nor instilled in them the fear that if they did it wrong I would never be beautiful again! (hair is dead and grows even after you die)
3. As a junior high and high schooler I used to fantasize about freezing time in class and going around the room to each desk while everyone was frozen. I would imagine how I would cut every person in the class's hair- some I would give a very stylish imaginary cut to and obviously on others I would seek revenge or entertainment.
So unfortunately the getting people to cut my hair part of the haircut program got momentum before the video-taping the haircuts program got momentum, although it did get going and has since successfully clogged all data availability on my laptop.
What this means is the videos kind of stat out with me having pretty short hair already, although the initial idea was that I would have long hair and also I did. I did have long hair in the beginning and to the present moment I have still not gone to the hairdressers for any assistance in getting it shorter.
Since I still can't find my external hard drive I started uploading the videos to youtube as a pre-emptive measure in possibly deleting them from my computer. The ones up on youtube take place mostly before during and after Robert Tortora and I's trek across America in the name of Goodluck with Elevators (late summer 2012).
*Videos of longer-haired cuts do exist some places in different formats also, which I will one day also find. Maybe I should have uploaded to youtube from the beginning but I wanted to just sort of compile the cuts like data and do something with them which I still might do but haven't done yet,
SO IN THE MEANTIME if you're looking for weird haircut videos to end the day or look into my youtube channel and find a myriad of weird haircut videos along with some accidentally uploaded nonsensical maybe haircut video related/ maybe not videos with me in them or without me in them THIS IS THE REASON!
One of the first haircuts I solicited was from my Dad (dad ques full circle, remember) and he took his work pretty seriously. He also needed little direction to do what I assume he would think of as "the right job".
Oh no just kidding looks like that was a video I didn't know I recorded- really sets the stage though, right!? Let's leave it, youtube!
